Caribbean Stud Poker was thought to have been first played on a cruise liner in the Caribbean - hence the name. But the true origin of the game is a topic discussed at many poker players dinner table. There are many versions of the true origin but, it has never been definitively proven where the game was first played.

Caribbean Stud Poker is a casino version of poker that is very similar to 5 card stud, the difference is that it is played in a casino and instead of playing against other players; you are playing against the house. There is no bluffing or any other kind of deception tactics involved. The dealer will not be folding, whatever you try to do, so do not waste your time by trying to bluff.

Each player places his 'ante' then, when the dealer announces 'no more bets', each player, including the dealer, is deal 5 cards face down. The dealer will turn over one of his cards, after which all players will be allowed to have a look at their own cards. No discussions are allowed with anyone else at the table. The player can then decide to fold or bet according to what cards they hold and what cards they think the dealer may hold. Always raise with a pair or better; statistically, you are more likely to beat the dealer with any pair. Do not play ace high hands, the dealer is likely to beat your hand in most cases. The final decision and payout is based on a traditional poker hand to determine the winner.
