Pachislo Coin Jam Prevention & Solutions

Square Plastic Brown or Black Coin Mechanism

1. Turn machine off.

2. Remove the bottom coin shield. In some cases the square brown coin mechanisms have coin shields that are hinged - just lower the coin shield. The black versions have removable coin shields. Press in on the left and right to remove.

3. The coin path is covered by a spring loaded area. Look closely and you can easily see the spring in the photo. Pull the spring loaded area up - it actually moves up and to the upper right.

4. Clear the coin with your finger.

If the coin is stuck in the acceptor on the front of the machine and you can see it, try pulling out of the front. If it is lodged where you either cannot see it or cannot remove it, pull open the spring loaded area and put in another token and push it UP to push dislodge the coin and pull it up through the front. Turn the machine back on and reset if needed.

The longer metal versions work the same way and will also have a spring loaded front.

Preventing Coin Jams

Most coin jams are not the result of problems with your machine but of tokens and dirt.

Almost all Pachislos accept .984 "tokens only. Although your tokens may appear to be the same size, a slight variation in length or width may be enough to cause coin jams.

Coin mechanisms can become VERY dirty over time. This caused the tokens to move very slowly through the coin path and become stuck in the coin mechanism or the coin chute and never fall into the hopper. Follow these steps to prevent future coin jams:

1. Check for Magnetic Tokens

Before you use tokens in your machine run a magnet over them and remove any magnetic tokens. Quite a few machines will kick out or jam magnetic tokens and THEN send an error code.

2. Check Token Sizes

Most Pashiclos only accept .984 "tokens. All of your tokens may appear to be identical is size, but your machine may be selective. Anything other than.984" will become jammed. Put the tokens in small stacks and see if any are slightly larger or thicker than the others and remove them.

3. Clean the Tokens

Use Kaboom cleaner. Mix a little in a bucket of warm water. Drop your tokens in and mix them for a few minutes. Rinse them and dry them before using. If you use your machine often do this every six months or so to prevent dirt buildup in the coin mechanism, coin path and hopper.

4. Clean the Mechanism

Removing the mechanism is simple. Unplug and remove it and clean it well with a wet wipe, lifting the spring loaded area and cleaning there as well. If the metal coin path is rusting use a sharp knife, screwdriver or exacto knife to remove as much rust as possible and clean the rust with a wipe. When you are done give the path a VERY SMALL squirt of silicone spray, wiping off any excess.

5. Clean the Coin Chute and the Coin Acceptor

While the coin mechanism is out, clean the outside coin acceptor where the coins enter the machine. If you have wet wipes try using a thin knife to push a wet wipe gently into the coin acceptor from the outside of the machine and pulling it out the other side to clean the inside. When you are satisfied spray one squirt of silicone spray into the coin acceptor, wiping off any excess silicone.

Clean the coin chute as well (this what brings the tokens from the coin mechanism to the hopper) and whatever you can reach in the hopper.
