A poker training site is a great way to improve your game, and the smart newbies take advantage of them to get up to speed in online play. The benefits are obvious. Poker takes a set of skills that can be learned-why learn with your wallet when you can get a solid coach to get you prepared and teach you what you want to know? But when looking at different poker training sites, try to find one that is constantly changing and adding new information.

The game of poker has changed in so many ways. It is not the game we once knew- "we" meaning us guys who were playing before it became pop culture and online poker took off. The sheer number of competitors with access to 24/7 play has changed the nature of the game, and it continues to do so.

For one thing, a lot of these guys are constantly playing multiple tables at once. This means a lot of hands. Not only that but most of them play a lot more hands than used to be normal for an experienced player.

These guys are a lot more aggressive than the old-timers were, but they are probably more experienced too, just because of the crazy number of hands they play. In the old days, many people would fold before the flop if their cards weren't great, but a lot more people will limp in to catch the flop now. That means that even if the nuts requires having a very weak pair, the odds of having it out on the table are a lot greater.

Another thing to think about is that poker players online are communicating a lot more. The social nature of the internet means a lot of these tech-savvy, money-making mindset guys are constantly communicating with each other about what works in online poker, and as a result the strategies are always changing and the game is always evolving.

This means that a quality poker training site can't just give you a handful of solid strategies and throw you out to the wolves. If the information is really current, that might give you a good start and you might do pretty good, but in the long run as the game continues to change but you don't, you will probably get torn apart.

The worst thing you can do is find a static site someone made three or four years ago and use it to build your game plan. Big mistake. If the game is in a constant state of evolution, our strategies need to evolve as well. So choose your training program wisely. Stick with some coaches who are always adding material and always looking at new features of the poker landscape to reassess how they affect the particular style of play that they advocate.
