Las Vegas is certainly the largest and sometimes the best value in entertainment today. Luxury hotels that once advertised rates of $ 300.00 and more per night are now offering rooms for a third of that price. If you are on a budget, rooms are available in very nice hotels for as little as $ 30.00 a night.

The hotels in Las Vegas are so big and so elaborate, they are hard to imagine. Hotels with 3000 rooms, waterfalls, circus clowns flying overhead, tigers roaming in their cages, all of this and more are available in Las Vegas. Did you know that 17 of the largest hotels in the United States are located right here?

There is more to Las Vegas than its fabulous hotels. The real attraction in this city of lights is gambling in casinos the size of soccer fields. The downtown hotels provide gamblers the best odds with some casinos paying out 90% of all money taken in.

While your pet will not be welcome on the casino floor, it will certainly be welcome not only in your room, but strolling busy Las Vegas Boulevard, or having lunch at one of the outdoor / patio restaurants as well.

Dining in Las Vegas ranges from free in some hotels to gourmet dining at the top of one of the world famous hotels. Although the hotel dining room may not accommodate your pet, there are lots of nearby restaurants with outdoor patios where your pet will be welcome.

Have morning coffee and a bagel with your pet at Einstein Brother Bagels or Starbucks Coffee both located right on the strip. A little more upscale is the patio dining at TGI Fridays on Sahara Avenue near the Sahara hotel.

In addition to the hundreds of stores selling tourist items, you will find that every luxury retailer in the world has a store in one of the hotels or upscale shopping malls in Las Vegas. You will find brands such as Gucci, Burberry, Versace, Prada, and Hermes here.

Your well behaved small pet will be welcome in almost all of these shops, and you just might encounter a famous movie star carrying their poodle with its diamond dog collar from Tiffanys.

If you are in Las Vegas during the month of November, be sure to visit Strutt Your Mutt which is held at Dog Fanciers Park. It is an all-day affair with a long list of doggy contests, dozens of vendors for pet related merchandise, services, pet care, demonstrations, doggy theater, agility courses, games, grooming, adoption, and more.

Some of our favorite pet friendly hotels in Las Vegas are:

  • The Atlantis Casino
  • Red Rock Casino Resort Spa
  • New Frontier Hotel and Casino
  • The Westin Casuarina Hotel, Casino and Spa

When you are tired of the bright lights, you can take a short trip of about 30 miles to Lake Mead and the giant Hoover Dam. At the lake, you and your pet can rent a houseboat for a day or a week and explore the more than 550 miles of shoreline, soaring red rock cliff and countless bays and beaches.

The houseboats come fully equipped and some come with a small runabout for skiing and fishing and even an on-board hot tub.

If you need to leave your pet for a few hours, there is quite an unusual and special pet boarding facility in Las Vegas. It is called Pets Bed & Breakfast. Each pet is provided their own suite, some with their own private 2500 square feet courtyard, television in the suites, purified water, and even a wading pool.

Or you could drop your pet off for the day at Camp Bow Wow where there is a 24 hour staff to entertain your pet. You can even view your pet having fun on the webcam.

There are more than a dozen doggie parks in Las Vegas some of them allow off leash play. Here are a few of the dog parks in Las Vegas:

  • The All American Park on Sunset Road
  • Barkin Basin Park on Alexander Road
  • Woofter Park on Vegas Drive

If it is time to get away from it all, pack up your pet and fly away to a place like no other, Las Vegas. Both you and your pet will have a pet friendly vacation that you will not soon forget.
