With a little pre-planning, a good poker table and the right poker chips set, it doesn't have to be a chore for the host. It's also a great way for beginners to learn the game with friends and not risk a lot of real casino poker chips learning the basics.
The right poker set, with the right quantity of each value is the centerpiece of the game.Chip sets come in a wide variety of choices, weights and prices, with or without pre-printed denominations or values. For tournaments, the best choice is often a set without pre-printed denominations, valued by color only. This gives you unlimited flexibility in the values and may require fewer chips.
The tournament structure needs to support your total quantity of chips in your poker set. The blind levels, structure, and your total starting poker chip stack determines the time it takes to play a tournament to a conclusion. Do the math, or better yet, purchase an inexpensive poker tournament timer, it's well worth the investment.
