'Sit And Goes' are single table poker tournaments played with five to nine other opponents. Every player at the table buys in for a small fee and is given tournament chips. The top two or three players usually get the bulk of the prize money. The blinds increase with time or number of hands played. In the early stages of these tournaments, you should play very tight. Most of the players at your table will be very inexpereienced calling stations. They will call bets with mid pairs, draws, and any type of hand. If you try to bluff at the early stages of these tournaments, you will bluff off all your chips and be eliminated. Raise pocket pairs from aces to tens. You should also raise the hand ace king in any position. Regardless of the flop, make a continuation bet about the size of the pot. Limp with any lower pocket pairs and fitted connectors in late position. If you do not hit a huge flop, get rid of your hand.
Later on when the blinds increase and few opponents are left, it is time to get aggressive. Most of your opponent will try to sneak into the money by playing very conservative. These players are playing not to lose. It is your job to play to win. Start raising a wide range of hands in position when you think your opponent's will fold. Often times you will not even need a hand to take down the blinds and antes. Picking up the blinds and antes will help you build your stack while your opponents' stacks slowly deplete. Sometimes you will run into the best hand but most times you will win first place. Play to win and you will gradually build your bankroll.
